Wanting to add physicality to the creative process, I tried punching and kicking pieces of clay; purposefully leaving finger, knuckle, toe and heel marks. It was liberating to allow the energy of the punching process to rule the resulting form. As a direct contrast to their somewhat 'formless' structure, the pitted surfaces are carefully outlined with glaze and 'glammed-up' with colour. The resulting works share qualities similar to bubbling geothermal pools infused with an underlying sense of aggression.
